It dates back to the eighteenth century but there is a diversity of opinions about its origin, some associating it with the popular Andalusian culture and the presence of the gypsy people in Andalusia, others with the fusion of the different cultures that coincided in the Andalusia of the time.

Since 2010, UNESCO has declared Flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, it is also Andalusian Ethnological Intangible Cultural Heritage and is registered in the General Inventory of Movable Goods of the Region of Murcia.
Desde 2010, la UNESCO ha declarado el flamenco como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, también es Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial Etnológico Andaluz y está inscrito en el Inventario General de Bienes Muebles de la Región de Murcia.
